About Our Germantown Dental Practice

Germantown Smiles has been a trusted part of the Germantown, Tennessee community for decades. The practice originally opened at this location in 2006, built on a foundation of quality dental care, and was renamed as Germantown Smiles in 2025 under the leadership of Dr. Nishel Patel, reflecting our continued commitment to excellence.

Meet Our Doctors

Meet Dr. Nishel Patel

Dr. Nishel Patel, owner of Germantown Smiles, was born and raised in London and earned her dental degree from King’s College London before moving to Memphis in 2008. She completed her DDS with Honors at the University of Tennessee in 2011. Since then she has been practicing general dentistry and also served as an Assistant Professor at UTHSC College of Dentistry. Passionate about cosmetic and restorative care, Dr. Patel is the current President of the Memphis Dental Society, a Tennessee Delegate for the TDA and ADA, and a recipient of Memphis’ Top Doctor recognition from 2016-2025. Invisalign® certified and dedicated to continuing education, she averages over 50 hours of advanced training annually. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading, family time, and volunteering with local dental outreach programs.

Meet Dr. Savannah Hughes

Dr. Savannah Hughes is a West Tennessee native from Somerville and a graduate of Fayette Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from the University of Memphis—Go Tigers!—before completing her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Hughes discovered her passion for dentistry while volunteering as a dental assistant on a mobile dental clinic serving underserved neighborhoods in Memphis. She is deeply committed to helping patients overcome dental anxiety through a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Dr. Hughes and her husband, Michael, live in Eads, Tennessee with their two children, JW and Amelia. Outside the office, she enjoys playing tennis, walking her two dogs, and coaching her kids in soccer.

A Word about our Founder

Dr. Charlyn Wilson

Dr. Charlyn Wilson founded Wilson Dental Care (now Germantown Smiles) with a commitment to personal, precise, and compassionate dentistry. For over 25 years, she built a practice rooted in trust and genuine patient care.

In 2020, she thoughtfully transitioned the practice to Dr. Nishel Patel, confident that she would carry forward the standard of excellence she established. She remained briefly as an associate to support a smooth transition for patients and the team.

Now retired, Dr. Wilson’s legacy continues to guide Germantown Smiles, and we remain grateful for the foundation she built.
